Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know about Orion Store — what it is, whether it's safe, where its apps come from, and who builds it.
What is Orion Store?
Orion Store is a lightweight, beautiful, and fully serverless app store for Android, Android TV, and Windows. It focuses on high-quality modded & patched apps, open-source tools, and transparency. It runs with zero servers and zero databases — powered entirely by GitHub, smart automation, and CDN. As the project says, “the store is the code.”
Is Orion Store safe?
Yes. Orion Store is fully open source and auditable, and includes a built-in local security scanner that runs entirely on your device — scan results never leave your phone. Because everything is transparent, you can verify exactly what the app does before installing it.
How do I download apps from Orion Store?
First install the Orion Store app itself from the official GitHub Releases page. Open the app, browse or search the catalog, and tap to install — it’s one-click. On supported devices, Shizuku integration enables silent installs and automatic updates.
Is it safe to download apps from Orion Store?
Orion keeps app sources transparent — everything is pulled from public repositories you can inspect — and its local security scanner checks apps on-device. As with any store that offers modded or patched apps, install only what you trust. Because Orion is open and provenance stays visible, you can always verify where a download comes from.
Where does Orion Store get its apps from?
Orion pulls apps directly from public GitHub repositories using smart automation and CDN delivery — there is no hidden backend. Users can expand the library through direct repositories or Obtainium imports, and patched apps arrive automatically through the companion Morphe-AutoBuilds project.
Who compiled the apps that are available in the store?
Regular apps are built by their respective upstream developers. Patched apps — such as ReVanced and Morphe builds of YouTube, Spotify, and more — are compiled automatically by the Morphe-AutoBuilds workflows, which run daily to apply up-to-date patches and upload the results. Orion surfaces these public builds; it does not secretly repackage them.
Are apps properly checked before public release?
Patched builds are produced by automated, reproducible workflows, and Orion adds a local, on-device security scanner so you can scan any app before installing. Because Orion is a transparent, community-driven project rather than a corporate store, the best safeguard is its openness — sources and metadata stay visible so you can verify everything yourself.
Who is the Orion Store developer?
Orion Store is created by RookieZ (GitHub: RookieEnough), a solo developer who built Orion as their first project after finishing a Computer Science degree.
Is orionstore.net the official site?
No, this is not an official site. We built this site to provide the official download link and information for the Orion Store app. The official project lives on GitHub, and all downloads point there.
How do I donate to the developer?
You can support RookieZ directly. Visit our donation page for verified links to donate via Ko-fi, PayPal, or UPI.
